Waters for freshwater fishing in Slovenia are managed by 64 fishing clubs the country has and, the fishery research institute of Slovenia. the 64 fishing clubs hold 94% of the waters and rest is managed by the fishery research institute of Slovenia. There also is a national fishing association (Ribiška Zevza Slovenije) which can be seen as an umbrella organization. Every club manages its own waters according to the laws (government) and rules Ribiška Zevza Slovenije has and to their own insight. This makes that some waters have stocked species like rainbow trout and some won’t and sometimes only fly fishing is allowed. Ribiške Družine Tolmin is one of the most well-known clubs because of their roll in the return of the marble trout and their beautiful and well managed waters. This is one of the clubs where only fly fishing is allowed and where you can only buy their license through their own website.
