Ribiška Družina Bled (RD Bled).

Founded in 1953, Ribiška Družina Bled manages the world-famous Lake Bled and the Sava Bohinjka River. With over 200 members, the club has a long tradition of fisheries management and conservation in the Gorenjska region. Its waters are renowned for their salmonid fisheries, from trophy Brown Trout and Lake Trout to Rainbow Trout and Huchen.

Regulations.

• Fly fishing and spin fishing are permitted, depending on the section.
• Barbless hooks only.
• One artificial fly or lure may be used.
• Certain stretches are designated Catch & Release only.
• Special rules apply for the Huchen season.

Fishing season.

• Lake Bled: 1 April – 31 December
• Sava Bohinjka (trout season): 1 April – 30 November
• Sava Bohinjka (Huchen season): 15 November – 14 February

RD Bled manages two renowned salmonid waters in the Gorenjska region: the Sava Bohinjka and Lake Bled. Together they offer a unique contrast — from a classic alpine river with diverse trout and Huchen fishing to a glacial lake famous for its trophy-sized Lake Trout. Both waters combine accessibility with technical challenges, making the area attractive for anglers of all experience levels.

• Sava Bohinjka – Flowing out of Lake Bohinj and joining the Sava Dolinka near Radovljica, the Sava Bohinjka is considered one of Slovenia’s most iconic fly-fishing rivers. It offers a variety of habitats, from fast alpine runs to wide gravel sections, holding Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and in winter, becoming a prime Huchen river.
• Lake Bled – Slovenia’s most famous lake, surrounded by dramatic alpine scenery. While also known as a carp fishery, it is notable for its Lake Trout, a lacustrine form of Brown Trout that can reach impressive sizes. fishing is permitted with fly, spin, and trolling methods, making Lake Bled a unique salmonid fishery in Slovenia.
