Ribiška Družina Celje (RD Celje).

Founded in 1952, Ribiška Družina Celje manages fishing waters in the middle Savinja River basin, part of the Danube drainage. With more than 70 years of continuous activity, the club plays an important role in managing and protecting salmonid and mixed fisheries in central Slovenia. RD Celje is actively involved in environmental protection, habitat restoration, and water quality monitoring. Its waters range from a major alpine river to smaller tributaries, offering both accessible fishing and more technical sections suited to experienced anglers.

Regulations.

• Fly fishing is permitted
• Spin fishing is permitted for huchen fishing.
• Only artificial flies and lures are allowed.
• Barbless hooks are mandatory.

Fishing season.

• General season  1 March - 30 September.
• Huchen season 1 November - 14 February.

Rivers managed by RD Celje.

RD Celje manages several rivers within the Savinja River basin, offering a mix of larger river fishing and smaller, more technical tributaries.

• Savinja River – The main river of the district and one of Slovenia’s key Danube-basin salmonid rivers. Flowing from the Kamnik, Savinja Alps through Celje and downstream, the Savinja features fast runs, deep pools, and wide gravel sections. It supports Brown Trout, Grayling, stocked Rainbow Troutand evenn some Huchen. Fishing ranges from easily accessible stretches to more demanding water that benefits from careful reading and precise presentation.
• Hudinja River – A tributary of the Savinja, divided into several managed stretches. The Hudinja flows through forested and semi-urban landscapes, with narrower channels, faster currents, and limited casting space in places. It holds Brown Trout and Grayling and is best suited for anglers who enjoy technical fishing in smaller rivers.
• Tesnica River – A smaller tributary of the Hudinja, characterized by cold, clear water and a more intimate stream profile. The Tesnica supports Brown Trout and offers classic small-stream fishing, where stealth and accurate casting are more important than long-range presentation.

Licenses.

Fishing permits for RD Celje waters are issued per river and per stretch. Licenses can be purchased online and through authorized local sales points. Each permit is valid only for the specific water and section listed on the license.
