Ribiška Družina Novo mesto (RD Novo mesto).

Founded in 1946 (as a cooperative, officially becoming RD Novo mesto in 1953), the club is one of the largest in Slovenia, with over 700 members. RD Novo mesto manages a variety of waters in south-eastern Slovenia, with the Krka River as its flagship fishery. The club is highly active in conservation, particularly in maintaining healthy populations of Brown Trout, Grayling, and Huchen.

Regulations.

• Fly fishing only (for all salmonids except huchen).
• Barbless hooks only.
• One artificial fly or lure may be used.

Fishing season.

• General season: 1 March – 30 November.
• Parts of the Krka open later or close earlier.
• Huchen season: 1 October – 31 January.

RD Novo mesto manages several important salmonid waters in the Krka River basin and its tributaries. Together they cover a wide range of habitats, from the broad karst pools of the Krka to the narrow forest streams of the Radeščica, offering both accessible fishing and technical challenges.

• Krka – The main river of the district and one of Slovenia’s most beautiful karst rivers. With its emerald pools, steady currents, and long limestone sections, the Krka supports healthy populations of Brown Trout, Grayling, Rainbow Trout, and Huchen. It is the centerpiece of RD Novo mesto’s salmonid fishery.
• Temenica – A karst tributary of the Krka, characterized by clear water and intimate fishing conditions. It holds Brown and Rainbow Trout, offering technical fishing in a quieter setting compared to the main river.
• Radeščica – A small, cold tributary that serves as an important spawning ground and wild fishery. Known for its Brown Trout and wild character, it is best suited for experienced anglers.
• Težka voda – Another tributary of the Krka, with clear water and a mix of stocked and wild trout. Its narrow size and challenging access make it a rewarding stream for technical fishing.
