Fly Fishing Zillertal (Zum Schneider Finkenberg).
Fly Fishing Zillertal is a family-run fly fishing operation based in the Zillertal valley in Tyrol, Austria, centered around the guesthouse Zum Schneider Finkenberg. Managed by Rik Sieben and his family, the operation combines accommodation, a fly fishing shop, and management of the Zemmbach river into a single, integrated system.
Rather than separate businesses, these elements function together to provide a flexible fishing experience. Anglers can access the Zemmbach through guided trips, dedicated fly-fishing weeks, or standard day permits, depending on their preference. Throughout the year, the guesthouse operates both as a traditional B&B and as a fly-fishing destination, with specific weeks dedicated entirely to guided fly-fishing experiences.
Regulations.

Fishing season.
- Zemmbach: May – September
Waters Managed by Fly Fishing Zillertal.
- Zemmbach –The Zemmbach is a classic alpine river flowing through the Zillertal, characterized by cold, fast-flowing water, boulder sections, and clear runs. It offers technical fly fishing in a true mountain environment. The river holds Brown Trout, and fishing is suited to anglers who enjoy pocket water and precise presentations in dynamic conditions. The fishery is actively managed with a focus on restoring native genetics. Stocking is carried out using fingerlings of Danube-lineage Brown Trout, supporting the recovery of the original genetic strain of the Danube system.
Special Programs.
Fly Fishing Zillertal and Zum Schneider Finkenberg are also involved in social initiatives, including organizing fly-fishing trips for the Invictus Foundation. These programs highlight the broader role of fly fishing as a tool for recovery, rehabilitation, and community building.
Licenses.
Fishing permits for the Zemmbach can be purchased as day tickets. Access is available to both guests of the guesthouse and non-guests. Guiding and full packages (including accommodation) are also available, during dedicated fly-fishing weeks.
