Ribiška Družina Železniki (RD Železniki).

Founded in 1953, originally under the name Selška Ribiška Družina, Ribiška Družina Železniki manages the Selška Sora in the Selca Valley. The club has a long history of fisheries management and also operates its own fish farm, where Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout are bred. The club manages two fishing sections of the Selška Sora, offering fly fishing for Brown Trout, Grayling and wild Rainbow Trout.

  • Section A: 1 May – 30 September.
  • Section B: 1 April – 31 October.

RD Železniki manages two connected sections of the Selška Sora, covering the river from above Podrošt through the Selca Valley toward Praprotno.

  • Selška Sora – The Selška Sora is a clear alpine river flowing through the narrow Selca Valley. Its character varies from faster gravel runs and riffles to deeper pools and more structured sections around dams and other natural features. The river supports Brown Trout and European Grayling, while wild Rainbow Trout are also present. The upper managed section is primarily a Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout fishery, while Grayling becomes an additional target in the lower section. The river offers classic fly fishing in a relatively intimate alpine environment, with careful presentation particularly important in the clearer and more structured sections.
