European Native Trout Challenge
Cast a line, make a change

Rok Flyfishing.

Rok Rozman is not your typical fly-fishing guide. As a biologist specializing in ecology and biodiversity, former Olympic rower, professional whitewater kayaker, documentary filmmaker, and river conservationist behind the Balkan River Defence initiative, Rok brings a completely different perspective to guiding. Rather than focusing purely on catching fish, Rok puts the emphasis on understanding the entire river ecosystem. His approach is about learning how fish interact with their environment and how reading the river can elevate your fishing to another level. For Rok, catching a small, truly wild native fish in its natural habitat means far more than landing a large stocked fish. A day on the water with Rok is not just about fishing, it’s about experiencing the river in a deeper, more meaningful way.

Waters & Clubs.

Rok guides across several fishing districts in the Soča Valley and the Danube river basin, each offering a different kind of experience:

  • ZZRS (Fisheries Research Institute waters) – These are generally the easiest waters to fish, making them a great choice for beginners or those looking for a more relaxed day on the river.
  • RD Tolmin – These rivers, including the Soča, Idrijca, Bača, and Tolminka, offer more challenging fishing conditions with a mix of technical pools and strong wild fish.

Specialties.

  • Huchen fishing.
  • Catch & Release ethics and responsible fishing practices
  • fly fishing (nymphing, tenkara, dry-fly, euro-nymphing, streamer fishing)
  • Access to remote stretches away from crowded beats.
