Ribiška Družina Vrhnika (RD Vrhnika).

Founded in 1955, Ribiška Družina Vrhnika manages several rivers and streams around Vrhnika and the Ljubljana Marshes. The club has a long history of fisheries management, nature protection, and maintaining the waters entrusted to it. Its main rivers include the Ljubljanica and the smaller karst rivers Bistra and Ljubija. These clear-water systems support Brown Trout and European Grayling, while Huchen are also present in the larger river sections.

• Huchen season: 1 November - 14 February.

RD Vrhnika manages several rivers within the Ljubljanica system, ranging from small, crystal-clear karst streams to the larger and slower-flowing Ljubljanica.

• Ljubljanica – The Ljubljanica within RD Vrhnika's waters is a classic karst river, with slow currents, deep pools, aquatic vegetation, and occasional faster sections. Its character changes from the spring area toward the broader lower sections, creating a diverse mixed fishery. The river supports Brown Trout, European Grayling, and Huchen alongside a wide range of cyprinids and predatory fish. Grayling can provide interesting dry-fly fishing, while the deeper sections offer opportunities for larger salmonids and Huchen.
• Bistra – The Bistra is a clear karst river flowing through a relatively short but highly scenic valley before joining the Ljubljanica. Its slow, clear water and varied channel structure make it a technically demanding fly-fishing river. The river is dominated by Brown Trout and European Grayling, with Huchen also present.
• Borovniščica – Borovniščica is a small karst-influenced stream flowing through the Borovnica area. Its narrow channel and varied structure make it suited to more precise fishing, with Brown Trout and European Grayling present.
• Pekov graben – Pekov graben is a small stream within the Ljubljanica catchment, offering intimate fishing in a narrow and more technical environment. The stream holds Brown Trout and provides a different experience from the larger karst rivers managed by RD Vrhnika.
• Ljubija – The Ljubija is another clear karst river near Vrhnika. Like the Bistra, it has relatively slow-flowing water, deep sections, and a narrow channel where careful presentation is important.
  Brown Trout and European Grayling are the main salmonids, while Huchen are also present.
  

Licenses.

Fishing permits for RD Vrhnika waters can be purchased through Ribiške Karte and through the club's own sales system. Different permits are available for the individual waters.
